Ciccone Vineyard Wedding with a Tuscan Flair

If you have followed along on here for a while you know I have a special place in my heart for the Leelanau Peninsula. So when I first had the pleasure of speaking with Stephanie about her plans for her Ciccone Vineyard wedding I knew this was going to be such a gorgeous day.

Stephanie, the bride, is a Chicago native and is where the couple currently resides with their adorable fur baby, Draper. Trevor, the groom, was born and raised in Traverse City, Michigan and grew up next to the gorgeous blue lakeshore and sweet cherry blossoms. During my first conversation with Stephanie she said from the first time Trevor took her to Traverse City, she always knew she would want to get married up there.

From the beginning Trevor and Stephanie knew they wanted to bring a Tuscan countryside ascetic to their wedding at Ciccone Vineyard. Our color palette was composed of whites, soft pinks, feather gray, oyster, pops of black and small hints of light sky blue. We kept the whole design very light, airy and simple to let the natural beauty of the vineyard and water shine through.

As we worked on the design and plan for the day one word that kept coming up from the couple was abbondanza. Abbondanza is an Italian word that translates to be ‘plentiful’ or ‘plenty’ and most commonly used to say ‘abundance & full’ – this stemmed from Stephanie’s family’s Italian roots and they wanted to make sure their day was abbondanza.

We were honored to have this gorgeous Ciccone Vineyard wedding day featured in the latest issue of My North Wedding magazine. Scroll below to see all the beautiful photos.

The ceremony took place on the charming Old Mission Peninsula at St. Joseph Catholic Church which is surrounded by lovely rolling vineyards.

On the wedding day we faced quite few obstacles. With it being the first Saturday of the National Cherry Festival we knew that would throw a few wrenches and time delays our way. With the ceremony on Old Mission Peninsula and reception on the Leelanau Peninsula we knew our transportation schedule would need to be on point and were thankful for our helpful transportation vendors, Holiday Coach and Grand Traverse Wine Tours.

Along with the extra traffic the temperatures hit a record 98 degrees with the “feels likes” getting as high as 108 degrees. I know to most people that doesn’t seem too hot, but keep in mind that this area is used to such cool summers that few houses even have air conditioning. So once guests hit cocktail hour we knew keeping them cool and relaxed was going to be a priority.

For the reception at Ciccone Vineyard and Winery, we started with cocktails in the vineyard overlooking Traverse Bay with custom soft seating by Event Theory.

Once guests finished their cocktails we moved into a lovely sailcloth tent for dinner. The tent was complete with bistro lighting along with a mix of farm tables for a rustic Italian feel and round tables with white linens all with cross back chairs by Monstrey MacDonald. Did I also mention the stunning view of the rolling vineyards for the guests to enjoy as they dined?

Once guests completed dinner we moved into the barn that was wrapped in warm string lighting and dancing and desserts. We had a small Moomers Ice Cream cart for guests to enjoy on the humid day along with slices of white wedding cake by Top Tier Cakery.

Through the heat and traffic, the day was still beyond beautiful and definitely abbondanza.
