Lake Michigan Wedding Shoot

I’ve been waiting a couple years to show you this Lake Michigan wedding shoot that I collaborated on with a lot of talented vendors at Camp Blodgett in West Olive, Michigan. When we were designing this shoot we really wanted to bring the charm of New England to the Midwest and I think we achieved just that.

If you have never been to Camp Blodgett it is the perfect Lake Michigan wedding venue with a beach front, large deck overlooking the water and indoor space with a fireplace that is a perfect retreat in case the weather turns.

This shoot represented an intimate wedding of 16 with a large table on the deck overlooking Lake Michigan complete with a New England style lobster boil. Scroll below to see all the beautiful images captured by Ashley Slater Photography.

One of my favorite details from this Lake Michigan wedding shoot were the lobster cracker escort cards. I loved how they tripled as an escort card, favor and dinner utensil and they also added a unique charm that told the story of the couple.

We decided to keep the table decor fairly minimal with three simple arrangements to leave space for the platters of lobster, crab legs, shrimp, corn, potatoes and more. It is important when hosting a family style meal that you keep your decor minimal so you have space for the food.

We also had these custom information cards created to instruct guests on how to properly crack, open and eat a lobster. Midwesterners don’t know their way around a lobster like New Englanders do.
